Responsible breeders seek to preserve and improve their chosen breeds, and are involved with clubs, rescue,
education, and other equine-related activities. They register their foals with reputable registries, screen their
buyers to make sure their animals are placed in suitable conditions, and make provisions to ensure that the
foals will have a good future.
As a HorseHobbyist.com registered Code of Ethics breeder, I state that:
I breed my horses with care and attention for the preservation and improvement of my chosen breed(s).
I test my breeding program in an objective venue such as showing, work, racing, etc.
I research health, temperament, and comformation for each foal I breed.
I seek to insure that the foals I sell are well matched to their new owner in the best interests of both the foal and the owner.
I provide health and temperament information on my breed in general as well as on my specific horses or foals to all prospective buyers, as well as copies of all appropriate health and genetic clearances. All foals are examined by a veterinarian before being sold. All horses and foals are sold with current Coggins tests and are up to date with all vaccinations, deworming and hoof care.
I represent my foal's health and temperament truthfully with full disclosure of any problems the foal has had or could have.
I register my foals with the appropriate breed registry. I provide all required documentation with each foal, in accordance with the rules and regulations of the registry.
I am a member in good standing of a breed-related, show-related, horse activity-related, equine education-related, or rescue-related club or organization.
I am able to provide references to others who have purchased from me in the past.
